Rob

Coach Rob is the Founder and CEO of Metro Surge Aquatic Club and serves as the Aquatics Director at Lakewood Country Club. He has coached champions at the MCSL, PVS, and national levels, helping athletes qualify for Winter Nationals, Junior Nationals, NCSA Juniors, Sectionals, and Zones.

Rob is committed to developing swimmers for long-term success while fostering a culture of excellence and accountability built on trust, consistency, and athlete-centered development.

Phil

Bronze 1 | Head Coach
Silver & Gold | Assistant Coach

Coach Phil is an accomplished age-group swimming coach with more than 14 years of experience developing athletes from novice through national-level competition. His swimmers have earned 24 Futures, 34 Sectionals, eight Junior Nationals, four USA Swimming Nationals, and one U.S. Olympic Trials qualification.

Previously with Nation’s Capital Swim Club for seven seasons, Phil now coaches with Metro Surge Aquatics and serves as Head Swim Coach at Bullis School and Avenel Country Club. His coaching emphasizes technical excellence, preparation, accountability, and helping swimmers build confidence and character in and out of the pool.

Noah

Coach Noah began swimming at age 7 and went on to compete through Junior Nationals in breaststroke under Coach Rob. A former state finalist and record holder, he has coached summer league since 2017.

Noah emphasizes strong technique and race skills while helping swimmers grow into confident, disciplined competitors.

Erin

Bronze 2 | Bronze 3 | Head Coach 

Coach Erin joined Metro Surge in 2020 and has been involved in swimming since age six. She grew up swimming on teams in PVS and GGSL, and competed for her high school team. 

Erin enjoys working with younger swimmers, helping them build strong fundamentals, improve their technique, and have fun in the process. Her goal is for every swimmer to grow in confidence and develop a lasting love for the sport. During the summer, she serves as the head coach of the Kentlands Kingfish.

Erin is a recent UMBC graduate and, outside of coaching, works at Northwest High School as a Special Education Paraeducator.

Jake

Gold | Head Coach

Coach Jake brings more than 10 years of coaching experience to Metro Surge Aquatics. Before joining Metro, he coached at Nation’s Capital Swimming Club and Shark Tank Racing Squad, after beginning his career in summer league. He has helped athletes qualify for PVS Championships, Sectionals, Futures, NCSA Juniors, and the U.S. Open.

A four-time NCAA Division III All-American at Denison University, Jake was part of two NCAA Championship teams and finished runner-up in the 200 Breaststroke in 2018. He later trained at George Mason University and qualified for the 2021 U.S. Olympic Trials.

Kerry

Coach Kerry brings over 50 years of coaching experience across summer league, high school, and USA Swimming programs. His athletes have reached the highest levels, including NCAA All-Americans, Age Group National Champions, and Olympic Trials qualifiers.
